This past year, 143 young people engaged in our programs, which offered them the opportunity to connect to community and promote healing, build hard and soft skills to succeed, and advocate for systems that value and serve young people and families. We are working to re-imagine innovative systems of support in which all young people and families are able to access resources without barriers or stigma, heal from generational trauma, and create communities that allow them to grow, hold each other accountable, and live with dignity.
Some highlights of the year:
● 100% of young people have a good or great experience with NMCAN
● 73% of young people have learned how to create healthier relationships through their involvement with NMCAN
● 80% of young people found NMCAN trainings to be helpful in building their skills
● 90% of our youth leaders have gained skills to be effective leaders because of their involvement with NMCAN
“My NMCAN journey has been nothing but amazing, comforting and definitely sometimes the highlight of my day… I have met some great people, everyone makes me laugh, and it’s an overall great environment to be in whenever I get the opportunity. ”– Young person
Please read the 2023-2024 Annual Report to learn more about our recent activities and view our updated theory of change, which is guiding our work. The programs and policies intended to support young people and families must center and value their voices. Our work aims to address the root causes of family surveillance and separation, and systems must be held accountable.
Thank you so much for your continued support and belief in the NMCAN community! If you would like to contribute to NMCAN this holiday season, you can purchase something from our Amazon Wish List, make a financial contribution, and/or follow us on social media.
