[NMCAN] encourages, inspires, and supports the unique needs of local CASA programs to achieve their greatest potential and deliver high-quality advocacy on behalf of the children we serve. If you read their mission statement, they walk their talk.
–Nancy Harris, Serviceheart – Otero & Lincoln Counties

NMCAN is a member of the National CASA Association, and provides a unified voice for 15 local CASA programs in 29 communities across New Mexico. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers stand up for children and youth experiencing the foster care system, providing expert reporting back to the courts.

CASA programs train community volunteers to stand up for children and youth in court, providing quality information regarding what’s in the best interests of those that have been abused or neglected. We support local programs through:

  • Collaborative network building and training
  • Programmatic and managerial technical assistance
  • Quality assurance to maintain compliance with National CASA standards
